Sharks - #1 in the World!
While Timothy W was in Vegas, Sharon and I used his tickets to see the Sharks whip on the Vancouver Canucks 5-0. They were scoring so fast and furious that Sharon said she was getting tired from standing up and cheering so much!
And yes, the Sharks are rated number one in the world! Think that's just my opinion? No, check out the New York Times Slapshot Blog.

Funny Thursday Response
Tim must know me well. Caddyshack is one of my all time favorite movies. Any of the scenes with Bill Murray are great. I like the one Tim posted (8 out of 10). However, this one is my favorite. Plus it's giving me a quote I can use -- "So I've got that going for me, which is nice".

Impressive Reflexes
I saw the video of our soon to be ex-President dodging the shoes thrown at him and I thought, those are damn good reflexes for somebody a bit older. And he came up from his first duck with a smile, almost taunting-like (“bring ‘em on”) before the second shoe was hurled his way, which he dodged too. I rate that his best performance in eight years. He didn't have much time to wait for the second shoe to drop to be thrown.
James Fallows plagiarized my thoughts…that dog…if I ever meet him in person, you can be sure my shoes are coming off. Here's the link to his blog entry.

Inaugural Story Continues
Here's a link for you broadband people to the first TV news report on the band. Unfortunately, they kept saying the band was from Redwood City - it's actually Redwood Middle School from Saratoga!

Look for the trombone player with the blue t-shirt -- that's Ben. There's both a frontal shot and a longer shot of him from behind.
Also, at the winter concert tonight, channel 5 was filming. I'll link to their video if they put it online.
BTW, I'm not worried about Ben and the cold. It's been close to freezing here for the past week and he's still wandering around in a t-shirt and shorts!

Ben's Thrilling Story
Saratoga's Redwood Middle School Marching Band will be in the Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 20, 2009. Even for a band accustomed to taking home first-place trophies, an invitation to this parade is a pretty big honor.

Ben plays the trombone in the band, one of his many instruments (saxophone, guitar, and piano).
