Mickey is an appropriate logo for Steve's birthday as he spent some good times with him in Florida at D. World Can't remember if he had the "ears" hat, or not.
Steve's earliest fun birthday treat from us was the summer after I graduated from college, 1969, and I haad an Italian Sports car. (Quit snickering...a Fiat is an Italian Sports car!!) It happened to be a good day and the car was running. For his birthday treat, Bryce and I wanted to take him to a show...can not remembe the show. Can remember mother Ruth, protective of her child, being NOT to thrilled with us taking him in a tiny tin can car. It was only a 2-seater. He was crammed in behind the gear shift. He SATS he was having fun. Since he father two smart, healthy sons, I guess the "damage" wasn't permanent. I remember he was happy and he had fun. I think it was a Disney movie. Maybe he can remember. Can't really recall an other actual birthday stories, but one that comes to mind regarding his early age...
...we were at Granny the B's house behind the park; Bryce and I were dating. Steve is little cuz we're not married yet (wedding in 1970 and we dated a year before wedding so that would make Steve the age of...???
Anyway, YOUNG....
We are all BORED, as usual, at Granny's as there is nothing to do, and young Steve has long been bored with the sad sack of junk that Grandma called "toys" for the grandchildren--a rubber beat up dog, or some damn animal; a tin soldier, etc. Bryce decides to "play" with sweet little Steven...his idea of playing is to give Steve MATH problems to do--addition, subtraction, etc. Steve does everyone correctly. Steve wants more. Bryce keeps adding more probelms, raising the level of difficulty. Steve finishes these correctly and wants even MORE FUN!! It is only Bryce and the Everett kids who think math is FUN!
