Hornsby at Palace of Fine Arts

I went to see Bruce Hornsby last night with Angela at the Palace of Fine Arts.

The show was great. Due to the "miracle" of the internet and Bruce's policy on audience taping, I was able to download the entire show this morning.

Below is the lyrics and mp3 file to probably my favorite song played last night. They incorporated Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb flawlessly during the song.

Fortunate Son - Bruce Hornsby

I'm sitting wondering, watching the parade
In my ever-present chair
People laughing and smiles all around me
Balloons and paper in my hair
There's a man in a car with the top down
Waving wildly at me
"The poor son of a gun", I know he's thinking
Better him, him than me

I've stared down the devil, and had to look away
Called out to the angels, but no-one ever came
Laid down odd and even, but double zero played
That's alright, I'm a lucky one
Such a fortunate son

I was always taught well, taught well
To be the strong one and keep it inside
But sometimes I sit beside the freeway
And howl out at the dark, dark sky
I might just have to go out and burn one
Have a drink or a few
Fade away in a cloudy haze of smoke
And give the old man's best salute

I've stared down the devil, and had to look away
Called out to the angels, but no-one ever came
Laid down odd and even, but double zero played
That's alright, I'm a lucky one
Such a fortunate son

FortunateSon-Numb.mp3 (17MB in size).

A page on the site http://www.bruuuce.com has lyric analysis of the song.

HI! What a wonderful show Bruce gave on Wed. "Comfortably Numb" has been playing in my head ever since. Do you by any chance have that one recorded? If so, any chance I could get a copy?
Many many thanks!

For some reason Joan and I are really bad at keeping tabs on who is coming to the bay area, when they are coming and where they are playing. You'd think the "miracle" of the internet would help us stay informed but it (being informed that is) just doesn't happen. If you hear about anymore good concerts and if you remember, pls send reminder, or put it on the BLOG before you go! That's it - create a section having to do with all the things Tim E. would do in the bay area, and even beyond, if he had the time. That way we won't miss out on things just because it so happens that you can't make it. I like HYSL's new digs. I tell ya, that company has such a new feel it's just incredible. I've been up on the website a lot recently and I just love that all the manuals and software are downloadable. I've also had the oppurtunity to read a lot of the manuals and really like the direction all the software seems to be going. Of course I haven't had the oppurtunity to tinker with it yet, but I will soon enough. Later. Waiting for pictures of the back yard.
