California Governor Recall

Three postings in one day!!! A new record.

I have a real dilemma... do I vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger or the other "Arnold" running, Gary Coleman.

After asking Meghan, "Are the people in California really as stupid and ignorant as they are coming across in this whole recall thing?" she responded with "It's a really big state mom with lots of people who don't agree on anything."
Hmm....let's see, they agreed nine months ago to elect Davis as governor!!!!
Sandy, the journalist's questions, to journalists in California: Is any responsible journalist pointing out that 41 of the 50 states are broke...
NOT just CA!! Are the CALIF voters going to recall Bush, as he has the nation BROKE, and going into debt by trillions!!?? Is any voter in CA really looking a facts, or are they on the media bandwagon on the top story of Arnold??
Sandy's question to the National Council of Social Studies and History teachers: What the hell are you teaching your students about government, voting, and propaganda versus facts and scholarly review of current events?
Sandy's questions for English and Language Arts teachers: What are you teaching about the difference between "NEWS" and "EDITORIAL OPINION?"
Sandy continues to BOIL over what has happened to journalism today. ANYONE, WITH NO SCHOLARLY OR PEER REVIEWED CREDENTIALS can be on a TV show (usually Fox channels or Clear Channel Radio stations) and make pronouncements as if they are FACT!!)
Why isn't someone with some media savvy helping either Davis (who seems to be bringing some of this on himself to an outsider like me) or Bustamente (sp?) It is like the Republican steam roller is not stopping in CA and no one is even trying!!!!

My theory is that Gray Davis is mostly a victim of the "Doesn't Look Good" syndrome. Americans like their governors and presidents to look the part. I predicted long ago, when George W. was still a do-nothing Texan governor, that he would one day be president, because he looks the part. Didn't he look snappy in his flight jacket on that aircraft carrier? He is what the American public wants to see in their leaders.
Of course, this theory is a bit too simple. Gray Davis was also a victim of the economy, which as Sandy points out is not unique to California. The tough part is that nobody wants to cut education (ArnoldS says education first), health care or release prisoners (remember CAs three strikes law?). Vehicle registration fees were raised to what they were before they were cut during the .com surplus, which really sent people over the edge. Painful budget cuts and/or raise taxes. Hmm, not a pleasant or politically obvious choice. So far, Arnold has said a few movie quotes and declared he will clean up Sacramento. Peter Ueberroths bright idea is a tax amnesty program, which is supposed to bring in $6 billion, when the most such a program has ever brought in other states is $100 million. Maybe California has a lot of newly reformed tax cheats? We shall see. Im still predicting Arnold as the next governor, but the latest poll shows the recall vote on Gray Davis to be closing in on 50/50. Maybe Californians will figure out before October that being governor is not as simple as being a movie action hero and having a lot of money.
